car show competitors. please read
although most coming won't likely get to see this i thought i would put it out there to those that do frequent the board to help us along.
Entering the judging lanes When pulling up to the judging tent please leave the car closed up. when you come up you can let us know anything speacial done to the car, any interesting work you may have done that isnt obvious to the eye or that we may not pick up on. this is your few minutes to explain what is great about your car. keeping the car closed up will allow us time to check the fit and finish of body panel and how well everything is alinged. after a few minutes we will ask you to open it up which you will need to open your hood, your trunk and one door for us. so we can then inspect the interior, trunk and engine bay. once the car has been opened up. take a step back and let us do our job. hopefully we can get thru everyone quickly and get you guys back to enjoying the show. please remember that judging in allot of aspects has some subjectivity.so don't be dissapointed if you car does not make it in the top 25 this year. just use it as a push to improve upon your car for next year. if anyone has any questions i will stick around after the show to go over any issues you have about what you can do to improve your car. id like to make any meeting like that positive and not have it turn into a "why did he/she get a trophy and i didn't because my car is better" type argument. Judging the things we will be looking for is how clean is the car. if you didnt bother taking time to clean cups and any trash out of your car don't expect a trophy. cleaning the car is one of the simplest thing you can do to make your car better and counts highly in your score. also we don't care that you have 50 exterior modifications and your buddy has only 10. we care about how well those modifications were done. were they just slapped on. or did you take the time in making sure that body kit aligns perfectly with your fenders, or that there is no waves in your new fiberglass hood. I believe in QUALITY over QUANTITY. It doesnt matter wether it is stock paint or aftermarket paint, but the finish should be good, without runs or debree in it. paint should be as smooth as possible. not covered in orange peel. wheels should be clean inside and out. interior panels should have great fit an finish. when i look at your engine bay I shouldn't see oil and grease everywhere. it should be clean, all wires properly secured and ran safely. unsafe items will cost deductions in points. So you have a few weeks left, run out and take a look at your car and finish up any loose ends you have left. cleaning up those loose ends and little items will go allot farther with the judges then that new aftermarket wizz bang tweeter valve you just bought. good luck everyone. |
