The Cheer Guild of Riley Hospital would like to thank all workers, volunteers and participants of this year's Winged Warrior event. I am the Director of The Cheer Guild and we received $8,757.00 from all your efforts in May. We truly appreciate your donations.
This section of the forum is to remind you of what the Winged Warrior event is all about. Let me share with you a little of what your donation means to The Cheer Guild. It is our mission to enhance the hospital experience and to minimize stress for our patients and families. One of our largest projects that help fulfill this mission is the Toy Room. Each month we distribute over 14,000 items (toys, blankets, puppy pillows, etc) from this room. Although we receive a lot of in-kind donations, it only scratches the surface of what we truly need to meet the demands of the hospital, therefore in 2008 we budgeted over $90,000 just for toys in the Toy Room. In 2008, it cost us $255 per day, $1,730 per week or $7,500 per month to manage this room. In 2009, due to the high cost of goods, it will cost us closer to $125,000 to manage this room.
